Start a Collection of Beer Mugs
Most people in the world collect something, some like tea pots, others like stuffed animals or baseball cards, some are even lucky enough to collect expensive sports cars! My husband? Well, he collects beer mugs. I have to admit it’s a very nice collection with each one having it’s own unique style and story.
It doesn’t take a lot to begin a collection of beer mugs. Many restaurants sell mugs with their logo on them and just about every major destination you visit is going to have a souvenir shop that sells beer mugs that show you’ve been there.
The generic logo beer mugs are nice and are good conversational pieces, people see a beer mug on your shelf that says “Ireland” and will want to know all about your trip, so you definitely want to have some of those types interspersed into your collection. We do like to collect some that are unique though. Whether it be a pewter beer mug reminiscent of Medieval times or an elaborately etched, gold rimmed beer mug from a prestigious crystal shop they all have something about them we love.
I think mostly we enjoy the memories each one holds. Memories of the good times that were had consuming the beverage that came in them (in some cases that beer mug might be the only memory he has!) to the memories of the trips we were on when we purchased them or just a period in time that one of them happens to reflect.
So the next time you are thinking about starting a collection, consider beer mugs. It’s a lot more fun than collecting stamps!
